Others With Vision and Purpose

Shem Center Gingko Tree

As the oldest surviving species of tree known to exist, the Ginkgo tree has become a symbol of strength, hope and peace. Shem Center supports other organizations whose work, like the Ginkgo tree, symbolizes and embodies strength, hope and peace in our world.

Mindful Reflection Community

Mindful Reflection Community

Terry Kinsey, the secretary for the Shem Center Board of Directors, founded the Mindful Reflection Community of Unity Temple Unitarian Universalist Congregation.  It is a lay-led organization. It is open to all members and friends of Unity Temple who are interested in exploring meditation, mindfulness, and Buddhist teachings. We do not follow one traditional Buddhist lineage but are interested in all lineages as well as Unitarian-Universalist/ secular/liberal/western/modern interpretations of Buddhism.

All are welcome to attend our meetings regularly or sporadically. There is no charge.

The Mindful Reflection Community has 3 regular events: 1. 7:00 CDT p.m. Tuesday Evening Mindful Reflection Community (in-person and on Zoom). 2. 8:25 a.m. CDT Daily 20-minute meditation (Zoom only). 3. 8:25 a.m. Sacred Wanderings (Forest Bathing) (in-person only. 4. Retreats/Workshops (varies).
