Others With Vision and Purpose

Shem Center Gingko Tree

As the oldest surviving species of tree known to exist, the Ginkgo tree has become a symbol of strength, hope and peace. Shem Center supports other organizations whose work, like the Ginkgo tree, symbolizes and embodies strength, hope and peace in our world.

Climate Action – The Turning Point

Climate Action - The Turning Point
The Visual Statement is designed to provide each person the opportunity to engage with their loved ones about the future they want for their children and grandchildren. If the images and facts in the Statement speak to someone, then that person must become the voice of the Statement in loving conversation with others.

A Visual Statement Presented & Endorsed at 2021 Parliament of the World’s Religions

The Parliament of the World’s Religions (PoWR) is proud to present the Visual Statement drafted and endorsed during the 2021 Parliament of the World’s Religions, held virtually for the first time in our organization’s history. The Visual Statement is an elegant, illustrated declaration of our roles and responsibilities in the face of the twin threats of climate change and Covid-19.

PoWR’s Climate Action Task Force drafted the Visual Statement and our diverse global community helped refine it through feedback and workshops before and during the virtual convening.

This is your statement, and its insights reflect your hope for reaching a turning point in the trajectory of human history.

David Hales, Chair of the Climate Action Task Force, presented the Visual Statement during the closing ceremony on Monday, October 18th. David conveyed that ‘the Visual Statement is an invitation to see the world as it is, to discern what is right, and to act.”

Now we turn to you as its ambassadors. Read it, endorse it, share it, and most importantly, make a commitment to a specific, permanent change in your own life.

“The Visual Statement is designed to provide each person the opportunity to engage with their loved ones about the future they want for their children and grandchildren. If the images and facts in the Statement speak to someone, then that person must become the voice of the Statement in loving conversation with others.”
